Well it's May 19th and my last post was back at Christmas and we have been busy bees at Green Ginger!
First of all, in January we took over the nearby sweet shop which had recently closed down. We renamed it Green Ginger Sweets and have been experimenting with lots of new lines which fit with the Green Ginger style. For example we now have boxes of fudge, shortbread and the like with scenes of Shrewsbury on the box. Another example is the Welsh dragon droppings - actually chocolates of course but a great gift to take back for a young person.
The latest big news is that we are now on the move into a bigger, better located shop. Not far away, just one floor up from where we are now in the Pride Hill Centre, Shrewsbury. We'll relocate both shops into this bigger shop, the space is the same as the two shops plus another third as much again, so lots of room to grow in the coming years! We'll be between Peakocks and Shoe Zone, just by Next and New Look so we really feel quite proud to be finally up there with the big boys.
This gets us out of the way of the coming demolition work in the centre, the first phase of the £150m redevelopment of the Pride Hill centre, which will be taking place in the coming years. Eventually the likes of Debenhams will be moving into the new shops (they already signed up!) but that will take a few years to get fully completed. There will be a glass domed roof and two levels of new malls linking Pride Hill Centre and Darwin Centre together. All this is on its way and we'll be very well located for it we feel.
The move to the new shop takes place over the Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday at the end of May, so we'll be shut for those two days. My wonderful loyal hard working beautiful kind staff will all be there helping with the move, so a great big Thank You in advance to Sarah and Julie from Gilly and myself. We really hope you'll come and see us in our new home from Tuesday 28th May onwards.
Finally I thought this would be a good time to put up some final photos of the present card and sweet shops, so here they are:
